LAWSUIT SEEKS TO HALT CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL EXIT EXAM

This is a wonderful example of just how thin the resources of the Los Angeles school system are spread. It appears to be another consequences of illegal immigration overcrowding LA's schools that will continue to impact our poorest kids for years to come.

Basically, the lawsuit indicates that it is unfair to require high school students to know 8th grade math and 10th grade English in order to graduate, because the teachers are inept. It is still hard to believe that no high school math is even tested; and now this lawsuit is indicating that the exam is still too difficult. If this wasn't sad, this would be funny.

I truly feel sorry for the kids that are mixed up in this silliness. Of course, the real world is a much more difficult place to excel than high school; or college for that matter. The real world is a place that doesn’t accept excuses and demands results.

When we don't control the access to limited resources, when we don't control the access to our public schools' resources, the poorest are effectively forced to endure further challenges to survive; or to make it to college. This increased strain unfortunately overwhelms some, which might normally make it to college, by depriving them of added personalized supervision from adults, from our "educators." This environment is replaced with a surrounding that lacks guidance; that is chaotic. Hope for the future is replaced with despair of the present.
