Olga must be one of the those dim-witted writers out there (or Olga has an agenda?). The very first paragraph puts a hole in the premise of the article. I would actually say that it proves the opposite premise. Just shoot yourself in the foot Olga! Doesn’t anyone read these pieces before they get published? Too funny. Especially considering Olga's "drug" articles.I have no doubt that the "wall" will reduce the drugs, crime coming into this country that kills between 20 and 50 thousand people per year (not all of this is from Mexico though -- only around 60 percent!). How many lives saved from reduced drug use will make this wall "tolerable" to those that oppose it for differing reasons? One? Ten? Three thousand? Is a 30 percent reduction (of the 60 percent) enough? To me it is . . .
The mere "construction" will probably save lives and reduce the drugs coming into the country.
I imagine that if Olga really believed that it wouldn't have any "impact" (on immigration?) that Olga wouldn't have wasted time writing about it. It would just be a "nothing." I also think that if Olga had kids that were drug abusers, the article would have been a little more thoughtful.
It makes you wonder, but I guess we all take positions on this issue that we see as benefiting our families, versus our country. In this manner we all tend to be a little self-serving. For me the drug issue is so devastating for so many (including some that are close to me) that I don't understand why it gets ignored. This will continue to be my issue, and I will continue to fight (with the pen) for the reduction of the massive amounts of drugs that continue to flow into this country from Mexico.
